A timeline of the important dates for the 2024 United States Presidential Election

The 2024 U.S. Presidential Election process involves a series of key events and dates, beginning with primary elections and caucuses in early states like Iowa and New Hampshire, starting in February. Throughout the spring and early summer, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories will hold their primaries or caucuses, culminating in the national party conventions in the summer. At these conventions, each party will officially nominate their presidential candidate. The general election campaign then kicks off, with the election itself held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The electoral process is capped by the Electoral College meeting in December to formally elect the President, who is inaugurated on January 20, 2025. This structured timeline ensures a systematic approach to selecting the nation’s leader through a democratic process.
